Quality Assurance Manager

Job Brief

We are looking for a qualified and reliable professional Quality Assurance Manager to help ensure that all external and internal quality requirements are met according to telecoms industry standards and processes.

He/she will be responsible for inspecting procedures and outputs and identifying snags or non-conformity issues, making sure they are all resolved. The Quality Assurance Manager must have eyes for details and solid experience in quality management systems and a holistic control of standards.

The ideal candidate must be a reliable and competent professional whose input will be necessary for the continuation of a business life cycle. The goal is to assure high quality of operational and project activities aiming towards the long-term success of the business.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Devise procedures to inspect and report quality issues

Monitor all operational and project activities that affect quality

Supervise and guide vendors, technicians and staff on quality issues.

Report all operational and project snags to the Head of operations and follow up with closure of same.

Communicate any critical compliance risks noted from these activities to project managers

Reports recurring quality issues to managers and other personnel, working with them to devise and implement solutions and or review current standards and policies. This helps ensure that deployment, even in-house, errors and issues don’t negatively impact delivery timelines or cause delays within the entire process.

Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation.

Communicate with external quality assurance officers during on-site inspections.

Must be able to travel to supervise work at various sites, either clusterised or in scattered locations.

Ensure compliance with agreed quality standards, policies and procedures, codes and legislation paying critical attention to health, safety and the environment

Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities in projects

Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues in projects

Develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions

Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities

Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers

Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions

 

Secondary Responsibilities

Give over-sight support/advice to Project Support Officer on his secondary responsibilities for proper alignment in reports, especially on project deployment related issues on the field.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Skills / Attributes / Knowledge:

Quality assurance – a solid foundation in quality assurance in telecoms is a necessity in this role, since QA managers need to thoroughly understand processes in order to develop improved and effective procedures

Team coordination – QA managers direct and oversee personnel within their departments, so effective leadership, coordination, and motivation skills are vital

Process enhancement – effective QA managers constantly find ways to streamline processes and boost efficiency, so they should have extensive knowledge of process improvement and enhancement

Organization skills – this role requires a high degree of organization to successfully direct and oversee all quality assurance procedures and coordinate processes

Communication skills – effective verbal and written communication is also important in this role, as QA managers provide reports to production managers and business leaders to influence decision-making

Reliable and Trustworthy

Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.

Understanding of methodologies in quality of projects.

Appreciation of technological trends in the mobile communications sector

Good presentation and documentation skills

Good telephone manners

PC skills – MS office, internet explorer, email, etc

 

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in quality assurance, especially in telecoms, and in project management

Must have at least 5 years minimum working experience as a QAM in the Telecoms industry

Certification in QA / PMP with proven track record will be a great advantage
